Florida compliance rules and regulations for hemp and hemp derived products according to FL Senate Bill 1020, which was signed into law July 9th, 2019 by Gov. Desantis, officiates implementation of the following rules for distribution and retail sale of Hemp Extract.
Hemp extract may only be distributed and sold in the state if the product:
Part A – Has a certificate of analysis prepared by an independent testing laboratory that states:
1. The hemp extract is the product of a batch tested by the independent testing laboratory.
2. The batch contained a total delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol concentration that did not exceed 0.3 percent on a dry-weight basis pursuant to the testing of a random sample of the batch.
3. The batch does not contain “contaminants unsafe for human consumption.”
“Contaminants unsafe for human consumption” includes, but is not limited to, any microbe, fungus, yeast, mildew, herbicide, pesticide, fungicide, residual solvent, metal, or other contaminant found in any amount that exceeds any of the accepted limitations as determined by rules adopted by the Department of Health in accordance with S. 381.986, or other limitation pursuant to the laws of this state, whichever amount is less.”
Part B – Is distributed or sold in packaging that includes:
1. A scannable barcode or quick response code linked to the certificate of analysis of the hemp extract by an independent testing laboratory.
2. The batch number
3. The Internet address of a website where batch information may be obtained.
4. The expiration date.
5. The number of milligrams of hemp extract.
6. A statement that the product contains a total delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol concentration that does not exceed 0.3 percent on a dry-weight basis.
These rules have been created to ensure that all hemp products sold in Florida are in alignment with the requirements outlined by the federal government in order to ensure that all products are safe for consumption and that there is transparency across the board to check and ensure products meet these requirements.
All Dope Dabs products that contain hemp extract meet these requirements, and this is how we do it:
1. The Hemp extract that we use in our products comes from a particular batch which is sent to an independent testing laboratory for testing for the following: Cannabinoid Profile Analysis, Florida Compliant Pesticide Analysis, Residual Solvent Analysis, Heavy Metal Analysis, Mycotoxin Analysis, Florida Compliant Microbial Analysis.
2. The batch is then confirmed to contain a total delta-9-THC concentration that does not exceed 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.
3. The batch is also confirmed to not contain contaminants unsafe for human consumption, as defined by the Department of Health.
The details of this analysis are recorded in whats called a Certificate Of Analysis (COA).
The COA of a particular batch is given a batch number.
All of our products have an added sticker that has a scannable QR code which will take you to the independent testing laboratories website where you can reference the particular COA for that product. Per “Part B” rules there is also a web address listed on the sticker along with the Batch ID#, and you can navigate to that web address and type in the Batch ID# to verify the authenticity of the COA.
Additionally note there is an expiration date, the number of milligrams of hemp extract, and a low-THC compliance statement.
